Unhappy News

Zach Here… I have some unfortunate and disappointing news to relay to you all that concerns the show you’ve come to love/hate.

I’m very unhappy to report that Talk Back with Zach & Val has lost one of its cohosts. Not to death, but to a life too busy to keep up with our grueling schedule (yeah a slight barb.) Valerie, @ValTorontoGal has decided that the show simple doesn’t fit into her busy life anymore and has to drop it from her weekly routine.

It’s terribly sad news to me because I felt that we we’re just starting to find a good rhythm and now I have to go back to the drawing board. But, at the same time I understand. What is working for me, doesn’t necessarily work for others… so while I’m not thrilled about this in the slightest, as a close friend I wish her nothing but the best and hope that all her projects keeping her busy are rewarding and get her to where she wants to be.

So what does that mean for the show?

Obviously it’s a big loss. It changes everything and really forces me to rethink what the show will be. So while it may take me a couple of weeks to rejigger the show, THERE WILL STILL BE A SHOW! In fact, it’s  quite possible that the show can be better than it was! I have way too many opinions and rants to be silenced permanently from this loss. In some ways, I see this as a challenge to be better! I think the nail in the coffin was a week ago when a message intended for my girlfriend was sent to Val by accident. You figure that one out.

Over the next week or two, I’ll book guest cohosts to sit in on the show until we find the right match. I’m in the process of looking for a location to broadcast the show from (have any tips? tweet me!), and I’m in the process of adding some other new elements to the show to take us up another notch!

Thank you to the thousands (Yes, that’s right! Thousands!) of people who have tuned into the show over the last while! It’s been a really great experience thus far and is only going to improve.

No Show… But a Contest!

Unfortunately, there will be no show tonight. An issue came up that requires Val’s attention more than the show does. It’s unfortunate, but it does happen.

HOWEVER!

As a fair tradeoff, we have an awesome prize to hook one of our listeners up with! If you listened to the last show, Val incorrectly informed Zach that the Superbowl was last weekend. Well… the Superbowl is THIS weekend!

We’re Back on Tuesday!

Hide your kids, hide your grandparents and hide your boss because we’re coming back to air on Tuesday with a brand new official launch of Talk Back Show!

All new live episodes with your favourite hosts, Zach & Val will be broadcast every day this year, unless one of us is sick… or just really busy or something. Regardless, we’re going to be bringing you a ton of new content for your listening pleasure. Reworked and repurposed, the show is going to take what we learned in our beta test and step it up a notch. We’ll have guests, prizes, games and other great stuff. Hell, we may even a surprise or two planned for this year!

But make sure not to miss an episode, because you don’t want to fall behind. Trust us.

This week, we’re happy to be bringing on the marketing director of Kred in for an interview with us. We’re going to ask all the serious questions about online influence, their competitor Klout and some questions that aren’t so serious.

Christmas Hiatus for our 2012 Launch

The show to date has been a huge success thanks to all the listeners who have been tuning in every Tuesday at 8PM.  In total the first four shows garnered over 30,000 listening minutes from people tuning into the show! So thank you to everyone who’s been tuning in so far.  We’re so thrilled with the results of our beta test that we’re going into true production of the show sooner than anticipated!

Yes, the show you’ve been hearing isn’t the final version of how we want the show to run. Quite frankly, we launched with the intent of doing a 5-10 show beta test to figure out what we liked and what we didn’t. We learned very quickly what worked for us and what wasn’t. We also recognized what you liked and what you didn’t. That being said, we advanced the timeline and decided to get production of the real show accelerated!

Things to look forward to include games for the callers, interviews, prizes, live dating games, live music, and of course, more banter, rants and discussion on all things going on in the world! There’s also some surprises we can’t talk about just yet… but we’ll just say that they might really blow away any of our competitors in the ‘show’ market.

Before we go, we want to wish everyone the best Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus or any other holiday you may be celebrating and have a safe and happy New Year!
